Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

The Generationally Enhancing Males (G.E.M.) Conference is back for its second year, continuing its mission to inspire and uplift middle school boys of color. This one-day event offers interactive workshops, dynamic guest speakers, and mentorship opportunities with successful men of color from diverse fields, dedicated to Guiding, Empowering, and Mentoring 100 young men of color.

Hosted at Southern Connecticut State University, this transformative event provides interactive workshops, keynote speakers, and celebration of achievement—all designed to inspire personal growth, leadership, and community impact. Brought to life by the Equity Enrichment Alliance and its partners, the G.E.M. Conference is where brilliance is nurtured and futures are ignited.

Our Host: June Archer

June Archer is an entrepreneur, music executive, and community leader who began as a recording artist with Elektra Records and is now CEO of The Eleven28 Entertainment Group. He’s a motivational speaker, host of The Winner’s Circle, and author of two books. Archer founded initiatives like the June Archer School of Arts and community awards galas. A 2X Grammy nominee and former Grammy Committee member, he’s earned Gold & Platinum plaques and recently released the documentary Stepping into the Shade.

Our Keynote: George Fraiser

Dr. George C. Fraser is Chairman and CEO of FraserNet, Inc., a company he founded 38 years ago to lead a global networking and economic development movement for people of African descent. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was an orphan and foster child for 15 years. He spent 20 years in leadership positions with Procter & Gamble, United Way and Ford Motor Company before starting his own business, FraserNet Inc. in 1987.

Sean Allen, Sr.

Sean Thomas Allen Sr., the 2024 100 Men of Color Valedictorian, is a passionate entrepreneur, advocate, and professional firefighter with over 16 years of dedicated service. Sean’s commitment to fostering equitable opportunities for children of color has made him a transformative leader across Connecticut and beyond. As the organizer of the Generationally Enhancing Males (GEM) Conference at Southern Connecticut State University, Sean has created a platform to empower young men of color, bridging gaps in mentorship, education, and opportunity.

Frank E. Brady

Frank E. Brady is an award-winning poet, educational consultant, and mental health advocate. His work has been featured on platforms such as BET, Soultrain.com, The Source Hip-Hop Magazine, and ABC Networks. With a strong commitment to youth development, Frank has experience as a high school teacher focusing on literacy and social-emotional development. He co-authored “Suited For Success,” an anthology of 25 stories highlighting life lessons and overcoming adversity.

Daniel Howell

Daniel McKinely Howell is a multifaceted creative, author, and curator who is using visualstorytelling in conjunction with the written word to create a bridge between parents and theirchildren in a routine oriented way that is educational, fun and emotionally engaging.During the pandemic, Daniel spent countless days and nights “Daddying” 3 boys below the ageof 5. The sheer chaos that would ensue when it was time for bed drove Daniel to his wits end. He then learned about the 4 Bs (Bath, Brush, Book, Bed) from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Maicen Long

Maicen Long, a junior at the Academy of International Studies, is an active student leader as president of the Men of Color Leadership Program and a member of various CIAC leadership boards. He is dedicated to equity, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The Men of Color Leadership Program empowers young men of color through mentorship, promoting academic excellence, leadership development, and a strong sense of identity while encouraging them to serve as role models in their communities. It is a supportive brotherhood that prepares members to face challenges and lead purposefully.

Bro. Kelvin X. LoveJoy

Kelvin X. LoveJoy boasts a distinguished 30-year career in youth, family, and community development. Throughout his professional journey, he has focused on cultivating youth leadership, empowering individuals to become change agents within their communities. He operates under the guiding philosophy that safe and friendly environments are essential for the transformation of youth. As a mentor, Kelvin is known for his empathetic listening and ability to connect with individuals on a personal level, guiding them through challenges with wisdom and encouragement. His work has left a lasting impact on countless lives, creating ripple effects of positive change across communities.

Earl McCoy Jr.

Earl McCoy, Jr., MBA, GCDF is a human-centered HR and higher education professional with over six years of experience leading initiatives in recruitment, career development, and inclusive leadership. With a background spanning colleges, universities, and nonprofit organizations, Earl empowers diverse communities through strategic programming, mentorship, and DEIBA-centered engagement. He brings passion, presence, and practical insight to every stage he steps on—championing authentic connection and personal growth.

Levar Mitchell, LMSW

Levar Mitchell, LMSW, is a school social worker at Academy of International Studies. Earned his Bachelors degree from Eastern Connecticut State University and Masters of Social Work from the University of Connecticut. Founder and Director of Academy International Studies “Men of Color” leadership program. Levar is a Psychotherapist at T.R.U.E. Self Counseling LLC. Levar is the Head Coach of Weaver High School Girls’ varsity basketball team and assistant coach of Untapped Elite AAU boys program. Outside of his social work and coaching life, Levar is the CEO/Founder of LM Styling Co, LLC where he styles clients for events (weddings, interviews, businesses and birthdays), body style analysis and much more.

George Morgan Jr.

George Morgan Jr. graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2018 with a double major in Political Science and Sociology, followed by a Juris Doctorate in 2021, finishing law school early. He held various leadership roles, including President of his Fraternity and Chair of the Northeast Region of the National Black Law Students Association. Currently, he is the Presidential Assistant at Southern Connecticut State University, where he teaches Business Law and Ethics, leads the Presidential Scholar Ambassador Program, and collaborates on significant projects with the university’s leadership.

Amir Muhammad

Amir Muhammad, an 18-year-old senior at Rockville High School, excels in academics and sports as a member of the Varsity Football team, helping lead them to the quarter-finals. He is actively involved in leadership roles, such as on the Student Council and co-founding 5th Down, a program assisting high school athletes in life after sports. Amir is also an advocate for mental health awareness among his peers, organizing workshops that focus on stress management and resilience. With a keen interest in technology, he has developed an app designed to help students track their academic progress and athletic commitments.

Nathan Palmer

Nathan Palmer, also a senior at Rockville High School, is a dedicated multi-sport athlete and has taken on a coaching role in football. He co-founded 5th Down, leading workshops for student-athletes preparing for life after high school. Involved in Student Council, Nathan champions student voices and community building. Nathan’s leadership extends beyond the playing field, as he actively collaborates with faculty and peers to create programs that enhance student engagement. His commitment to inclusivity and teamwork makes him a respected figure among his classmates, inspiring others to pursue their goals with determination and integrity.

Ramon Peralta

Ramon Peralta is the Founder and Executive Creative Director of Peralta Design, a prominent branding and digital marketing agency in Shelton, Connecticut. With over 20 years of experience, he established the agency in 2008 after contributing to Priceline.com. Peralta Design focuses on helping startups, nonprofits, and established businesses to build brands and expand their digital presence. Ramon is a respected speaker and mentor, dedicated to supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and creatives. As a proud Dominican-American, he champions diversity in tech and design and authored “Launch Your Own Brand,” sharing his experiences and strategies for business growth.

Chris Prescott

Chris Prescott is the Founder of MPact Mentoring Inc., a dynamic speaker, coach, and youth program consultant. A former athlete turned mentor and educator, he is passionate about using the intersection of sports, mentorship, and career readiness to empower young people. Currently serving as the School to Career Specialist for Bloomfield Public Schools, Chris helps students navigate their personal and professional journeys. His work emphasizes self-identity, informed decision-making, and access to meaningful opportunities for post-secondary success.

Stephen Wilson

Stephen Wilson is a Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Mentor, and Youth Advocate with over 20 years of experience supporting at-risk youth, families, and community organizations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree of Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Saint Joseph, and is a certified Youth Life Coach. With expertise in conflict resolution, anger management, and mental health support, Stephen works to help adolescents and emerging adults navigate challenges and build a foundation for thriving, all while promoting self-determination and well-being.
